Winter Wonderland

1st grade. Emphasis Winter Scene. Crayons & paint
The kids really were hesitant to draw the tree... but once I taught them the steps they really became more confident and took off! Of course their favorite part was the last step-splatter painting the snow with white paint over their winter scene. My primary focus was teaching them the word emphasis and that by using color (i.e. red) you can make something stand out or be noticed. They had the freedom to choose how they wanted to add their emphasis... some decided a fox, squirrel, birds, or accessories on a snowman. This was a busy, one-day lesson.
